So I'm posting this because I'm slated on a girl's night out and we have a theme about diamonds....
And I suppose everyone will be talking about the cuts and gradings.....I had eyes only on Elizabeth Taylor.
For some reason, she popped out instantly as I think about researching anything jewellery-related...I mean, she's made those rocks even more meaningful. And here goes my research results...
Obviously, she slept with noone else but her husband and her dear fifth husband Richard Burton was a generous man.
They even had a rock named after them- the 69.42 carat Taylor Burton diamond, D colour, flawless stone....It was first acquired by Harry Winston and auctioned in 1969 won by Cartier, for over a million USD. And then, there he was, Mr Burton just wouldn't take no for an answer and contacted the Cartier guy right after he went under the auction and acquired the rock...."regardless of how much it cost, just get it done with" on the condition that Cartier got to display it in its window display. That was 1969....
Taylor sold it in 1978, 9 years after she first wore it at Grace Kelly's 40th birthday, and divorced Burton....for US$5 million. Which she did get hold on to was the first diamond Burton gave her, a 33.19-carat asscher-cut Krupp Diamond, she still wore on Larry Kings in 2003....

Among all the shops I adore in HKG, Rue Madame is now topping my list of choices. It has like five points more than even LC or Joyce, the latter ones are simply not uber affordable. I've learned the trick to shop wisely through out all those years of retail therapy...yeah, learned it the hard way.
Rue Madame is like a Marais Paris in the midst of urban jungle HKG. Its Causeway Bay shop in the Lee Gardens is cutiesy and I can simply find everything I need at an affordable price.
The super Parisian chic labels including Maje, Sandro and IRO. One recent lovely find is American Vintage, they produce, the BEST luxe basic Ts I've ever found-forget pricey pricey Alexander Wang. And the designer was super nice as well when he came to Hong Kong for Madame's anniversary earlier this year.
The owner Ariane is simply tres chic and uber friendly...yeah, she's not paying me for this post...so that's it before the fall-winter collection Madame's got me lust after, drooling over.....muahahahahha

These are not easy to get away with. And the fullon denim dress....Unless I'm going to a theme party travelling time back to the 80s....it's hardly a summery wardrobe choice. And in the piles of cheap T-shirts I found this precious baby, the Sass & Bide "Beyonce" dress. I suddenly started this obsession of party dress shopping, well it is party season indeed. First a pretty Phillip Lim SS 11 petal dress, which I totally almost bought when tipsy at the Lane Crawford party, tried on twice later on, still living it. And the next day, tried on a fancy studded orange dress at Liger, which I missed a zero at the very end on the price tag...

And today, this S&B at an amazing sample sale, 80% off. Lalala, I'm happy happy girl. Here's how runway and Beyonce rocks it....and real way with Isabel Marant suede pumps.

I seriously don't even wanna rant about it...I mean it was totally my idea to drag myself into the theatre to see the new Harry Potter. Oh well, those Emma Watson Vogue cover did the magic.
Allors, this film is way way way too dark, too sophisticated, too racy for children....Maybe that was the exact definition of what children of this age's been watching....
It totally gets my eyes rolling when Harry stripped off to his briefs and jumped into the icy icy dark hole of water....Geez, what am I thinking....I ain't imply anything more than an freezing ice water hole....
Non the less, what's the matter with HP. I get it, it's been five or six episodes and he derserves to be loved, this poor innocent boy with evil blood in his veins is totally mother care deprived....hence the intimate dance with Hermione (the still teenage version of Emma that is) and in Ron's hallucination all the makeout....that's just....outrageous......They trying to make another Lord of Rings or what, at least LOR has better looking and taller Elfs!!
Anyway, I'm glad that's gonna put an end to all of it, the kids are grown up, hairs been cut short, time to move on. I'll settle for Hermione grown-up version....pls pls no topless making out with HP...it's just wrong wrong wrong

Fashion boy’s toy: Kouklitas by Andrew Yang

It’s hard not to be synical about guys making dolls but Andrew Yang is quite an exception. I didn’t realize its glamour and creapiness untill I saw his rag dolls, Kouklitas (greek word for dolls) for real at Central’s Joyce.

There are 47 of them, wrapped in the latest AW fashion. Amazing craftwork.

Andrew, in a skimpy vest, was so much more good looking than I’d imagined (though his skin is not exactly porcelain perfect), but still, he’s posing for the shooting with the dolls, as if he’s the prince living in his own fantasy, which he later said, was pretty true.

“You can’t necessarily wear Balmain down a stroll to the groceries but you can take the doll with you and have all sorts of fantasy with it…”

At the age of 25, he’s living his dream. Making dolls for the top fashion pros. He’s making a Anna Wintour doll as well as a similar collection with Barneys New York.

His eyes filled with slighted disturbed hesitation and slightly pretentious agony, you know, toxicated by the Japanese manga I can only anticipate. But still, it was a great talk and the dolls, hope fads do become fashions.

I thank him for the interesting conversation as well, especially when he lower the vest and showed off his tattoo of his great grand mother, an inspiring actress in silent movies in the 20s. I almost wanted to ask where he got inked.

It’s still a bit early I guess to start planning for AW wardrobe here in HK, given the weather’s still 38C+, but it’s never too late to start planning!

I saw an orange middle Marcie in Lane Crawford the other day and I couldn’t walk ever since (in courtesy of Charleen, how she described to me when she saw the exact Burberry purse she wanted for her mum).

Anyways, it got my full attention. And plus, if I’m only getting one bag this whole season, this is probably it!

I just hope it can fit in all my notepads, magazines, tempons, vodkas, mascaras and dark thoughts!

I just finished a long day of interviews…running out of my mouthwater literally…And I got this call from God, the god like sales staff with Vivienne Westwood telling me this pair of wing sandals I was put on waiting list since last year….which I totally forgot…has arrived!

Even cow cow lurves the pair. They only have it in black white and red…I’d very much love to buy the both pair…but, yeah…i might end up wearing neither of them.

I’ve been doing this summer sandal hunting for almost two months now, and made mistakes, impulsive buys and learned my lesson- no more cheap heels, never ever. I ended up with a pair of campers twins and another Chloe wedge, and my trust worthy old summer companions. There, I was just browsing through Who What Wear’s Shop the Closet and saw this magnificent emerald strappy sandals, pretty close to last year’s patent leather See by Chloe, I dumped before summer because it got all moldy in this super bloody humid city…which I deeply regretted now…Any ways, the list of wish to buy will probably continue to expand until the end of summer…

Louis Vuitton’s latest arts in store is the Campanas brothers from South America. Nothing cool like the Dsquared twins, they are straight aka boring…Shouldn’t have said that, but nice pretty much equals B.O.R.I.N.G. The works however kinda interesting, remade from recycled plush toys and a chair inspired by sushi rolls. Pretty obvious popping up from their SA roots.

Can’t help talking shit about the LV PRs…was a usual chaotic evening for the socialites to see and be seen, and the PRs just have no idea how to make that a bit more efficient…Gahhhhh

Shot at the Joyce dressing room the other day, pairing an Alexander Wang T with Toga’s awesome sculpture skirt. It looked massive hanging on the rack, but when I try it on, it clings elegantly around the waist and yes, without saying much, it’s edgy and cool. Wish I can afford this piece, but it comes at HK$7,000 ish. So I’m saving, saving, saving now…

My bf was watching The Pacific, HBO’s new miniseries, obviously dead bodies with visible intestine exposed are a bit over my before sleep tv soap standards. So while I was pretend watching, I checked out these lovely babies, just got in from DMop today, Japanese brand SLY, Moussy, Black by Moussy for SS 2010.

As always, I often go there for party outfits, very Harujuku/Ginza style after midnight, if u know wut I mean. Like the shoes, accessories most. The T-shirts were a bit of rip-off.

I missed last Friday’s AA pop store launch in Lane Crawford, too bad, heard it was one of those fashion openings where people actually buy stuff. Oh yeah, those women were like…crazy…<—according to a male frd who actually went. Aha, can totally understand, AA’s finally coming to HK, well not exactly, it really should, it probably will, even just for a limited period of time.

I sometimes not understand, why AA? You know if you are not a fair trade/labor fanatic, fashion is pretty notorious for its irresponsibility in both areas anyway, why AA. Right, fashion with conscience, rich peoples BS.

I remembered seeing this pair a la a lovely editor I went on a trip with earlier and she paired it with the slip-toe Margiela bootie, the next day with over size T and a pair of baby pink repetto flats. Perfect demonstration for dress up and down. The only problem with this pair is that it crinkles a bit, because of the zips. Still dunno how to fix it, let me know if you have any idea.

So finally, after going out empty handed after trips down to the AA shops in Beijing and Shanghai, finally some AA for me.

Ok It’s a love at first sight with this Zucca shirt. The feminine ruffles are given some edgy twist here, almost look like the ribcage, lol. Yes, it’s now officially my “rib-cage” shirt. A bit see through, but will work fine with some nude coloured corset I found from SLY, didn’t buy coz I know I’d only wear it for no more than once…albeit it’s very cute and affordable @HK $650.

Here comes the shorts from A.P.C, again very simple but the cutting is just tres Parisian. It’s gonna be widely integrated to my whole summer wardrobe!

Just back from a sweet holiday from this MASSIVE resort in Shenzhen called the Interlaken. Gotta try again. Was raining this morning, major bummer.
In love with this baby pink silk dress from Isabel Marant. Perfect pastel colours for the spring-summer, also love the casual details, the sailor knots on the front. They also have it in charcoal grey and kahki, I think.
The mini YSL downtown is really a money-worth investment, it goes with everything, this black patent leather one. I attached a gold strap (from another freebie-a leather pattern clutch from pedder red) for some dress down chic.

Though it was pretty chilly, actually cold…plenty IM fans showed up on a Saturday night in this lovely balcony in Crown Plaza hotel-by lovely i mean the semi-open space, with glass walls and everything. The clothes were awesome. I have no idea why IM got sooo popular this season, it’s always been lovely and uber feminine..but yeah, isn’t the popularity getting a bit uncontrollable…anyway..a couple of runway shots. The jackets are absolutely my favourites!!

Ok, I’ve been telling myself millions of times to either get one tattoo, or not. Companying my boyfriend to get his latest one was a daunting and real enough experience that has totally, successfully put me off the idea inking myself. But temporary tattoos are just too cheesy, pretentious…well, I guess there are exceptions!!!

Chanel’s Les Trompe-l’oeil is finally coming to HK, HK$550/box, sold at fashion and beauty shops.

Judging from my previous experience, it’s probably gonna take some practice before getting it right. But the chains are just uber lovely. Did I say it’s lovely??!!!

今天在UNIQLO撿到寳！！！X SHIPLEY & HALMOS, 的吊帶JUMPSUIT短褲，竟然是今年入手的第一條JUMPSUIT，因爲真的很便宜阿，HKD399，但是質素很高啊。好吧，我真的有嘗試不少的阿，MCQUEEN太長，不然就是質地太軟熟。。。

COLLECTION裏面有一些很ALEXANDER WANG的絲織背心，但是藍色得來粉過了頭，況且在SHINY見到本尊以後，還是覺得太短。。。話説，他的背包又實在是。。。鏈子太長了一些。。。

一个人，看了金基德的呼吸。

在看的时候，脑子裏面不断弹出来的是：这是怎麽样的孤单？一直不断地弹出来。

故事讲，一个女人，老公有外遇。恍惚之中，突然造访了一个杀死自己妻儿，又好几次企图自杀的死囚。

两个人本来没有什麽交集，但是，绝望和孤独驱使他们的神经，错乱到了一个相同的频率。

女人的失恋，死囚对死刑的恐惧，都有足够让人窒息的理由。

死囚的同性恋狱友，是一个有一点让我想不明白的角色。我先是觉得很有趣，然后觉得，没有意义，只是为了满足导演的签名，还是给这个片加多一点争议。

女人每一次的造访，给死囚带去监狱外春夏秋冬的气息，其实是在纪念，自己曾经的爱情。

到了最后，女人走了，差点杀了他。孤独地一定要强烈的完全占有，留下记忆，还有痕迹，嘴角的血痕，还有，已经一刀一刀刻进心裏，脑裏的感觉，他的肌肤，他的触摸，他的嘴唇。男人继续留下，不再等待，也不挣扎了。张震，一直以来觉得定位和吴彦祖有一点像。中性，性感。自从，在吴清源裏，他，清瘦，单薄，倔强，神经质的天才影像，让我觉得，他真的很努力，而且也有了结果，让我忘记他的一张脸，但是记住表情，眼神，感觉。

很韩国的一个片，很佩服的是，张震没有一句对白，本质是因为张震不会说韩语，INSTEAD OF 让他好像无极裏面的张东健讲3脚猫中文，导演一开场就设置了他因为外伤，说不出话。其实是荒诞的，粗糙的藉口，但是很WORK。

导演对自己的这个谎言很有自信，自信可以让识破天机的观众因为剧情的FLOW而忘记这个LOOPHOLE，可以让不知情的观众很MAKE SENSE OF THE STORY. 我有点懂得，意义，在於你无法完全占有，因为孤独，游戏才可以继续下去，如果饱和了的获得，只有两败俱伤的灭绝。我也不想承认，可是怎麽来来去去就是这样子。

ＰＳ，果然就是他，我在看的时候就怀疑那个在监控屏后面偷看的保安科长是不是导演本人，刚才看到ＩＭＤＢ的资料，果然就是他．

看翁子光的《明媚時光》是一個微妙的經驗。好像一路掙扎著想要擺脫的青春，又美好的被召喚，就算是危險的誘惑，還想再活一次。結束的時候，還以爲從沒開始，然後只好說，我們都是這樣長大了。

我自己以爲，雖然主綫是講主角的青春戀愛，其實在反射父輩的無奈，對人生，對婚姻。儅一切都不再是18嵗眼中的樣子，要怎麽樣去ADAPT，繼續活，雖然是老生常談。但是導演的處理至少沒有讓人感覺太媚俗。反而讓人想提起筆來寫一些什麽。

其實，殘酷青春片真的被拍到有點讓人視覺疲勞了，年前的九降風系列拉，然後再之前的臺灣人拍到爛嗮的少男少女情懷。收到風以後，也不敢太期待。但是，有不同的是，綫雖然很多，但是交織的不突兀，而誠實得像是回憶自己。

我不敢說，這部戯多好多坏，但是很期待導演的新作。

非一般臺灣青春片，因爲不是講同性愛，講的是一身義氣，或是孬的，男孩子都長成男人了。只有，深夜游水池，泛起來的閃光，還記得那些輕狂的嬉笑。

不看電影，就去和導演講戯，不是大不敬，是大後悔。然而，聼老闆言，去看戯，果然是沒有錯的。此乃，看過九降風后之大醒悟。Point在於，有機會，要去看。

本來以爲，又是一部，臺灣青春片，新導演，曾志偉監製，我以爲林書宇是台版黃精甫。訪問止，我還是這樣的認爲。直到我看過電影，因爲人家堅持說是不同藍色大門或是盛夏光年的。

新導演，半自傳，講自己的高中時代，少年情懷，兄弟情，初戀云云。他說：“楊和侯都拍他們的青春，我有機會儅導演，也要如此，不過講我的時代。”

故事講九個高中生，七男二女，交通意外，合法前的啤酒和煙，鎖起來的天台，臺灣職棒簽賭案。

用了9個新演員，Literally的新，是沒有拍過戯的孩子，他說，自己也變年輕了呢。然後，很高興，自己可以成爲一些改變的起因，在他們彼此的生命裏面。

儅了很多年副導演以後，他說：“我想做足了準備以後才開自己的戯，長片也很熟悉了，你看，也不會覺得是好像第一次拍戲的吧，我希望。”

當然也不是完美的，只是讓我有一點新鮮的感動關於很久以前的事情，多少推翻了我的STEREOTYPE。

他喜歡的岩井俊二，有機會在東京影展遇到，因爲大家都要趕下場，原本以爲錯過了，卻又搭上同一部的Lift，於是像小Fans樣的要簽名合照。“那個是緣阿。”

他說，那個時候看完沽嶺街少年殺人事件以後覺得怎麽會有這樣的電影啊，怎麽一個電影會這樣子拍啊，這樣子不想讓他結束。

不停地播張雨生的我期待，我開始期待，他的下一部，于此同時。

我老是耿耿於懷的，中學美工科上，老師播的疑似臺灣新浪潮的戯，是不是叫作，我們都是這樣長大的。

Tom Lin Shu-yu's feature-length directorial debut Winds of September is the first part of a trilogy produced by veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Eric Tsang Chi-wai. Filmed in the 32-year-old Taiwanese writer-director's hometown of Hsinchu, it portrays nine high school students' bitter-sweet adolescent lives.

What are the 'winds of September'?

My hometown Hsinchu is also called 'the wind city'. Strong winds from the China Sea blow across the city every September. For me, Hsinchu and the winds are inseparable and are connected to my teenage years. I always knew I was going to make a film about Hsinchu. I decided on the title even before I started writing the script in 2004. Youth is like the invisible and uncontrollable winds in Hsinchu, the soft and gentle breeze can become strong and harsh.

Is the story based on your own experiences at high school?

Edward Yang De-chang and Hou Hsiao-hsien, directors from the Taiwan New Wave, are great sources of inspiration - in terms of their spirit and ideology, rather than technique and visual styles. Both made films about their teenage lives. When I got the chance to make a film of my own, I wanted to tell a similar story - an updated version for my generation.

How is Winds of September different from other Taiwanese youth-oriented films?

Many of the others focus on romance, especially homosexual love as seen in Blue Gate Crossing and Eternal Summer. I think Winds of September is more ambitious in the way it depicts the teenagers' friendships against the background of an evolving society - Taiwan in the 1990s. The film is all about how the young build their self-esteem and lose their innocence.

When did you realise you wanted to be a filmmaker?

Edward Yang's A Brighter Summer Day was so influential on me, it was the reason I first got interested in making films. After watching it, when I was about 14 years old, I wanted to make a film just like that. The film was three hours long, and, for the first time, I didn't want it to stop. I am the same age as Chang Chen who starred in the film, and that's maybe another reason why I felt so connected to the film. I couldn't stop thinking of the plot and the characters even days after I had watched it.

So I was digging last month's UK ELLE during my research for a floral silk dress. And this little typo caught my attention, they spelled it Batista instead of Baptista on page 151(not that someone's really gonna turned the pages and chek), well da point is this dress, that symmetrical pattern is amazing, silk and wool dress, with all the subtle colors, resembles butterflies add up a sense of mystery. One of my most intelligent bff, measured by her impressive IQ and SAT test scores, who got her first pair of high-heel from her college sweet heart, told me that the killing heels matter because of biological reasons.

"Once you are in heels, there will be more extra spaces in your legs and you hip looks cuter." Well, I didnt take it seriously and continued my happy and casual relationship with no-cheaper flats until this struck me.

I have to stand on my tip toes to lean in and kiss.....on the condition that my date has an altitute that is a bit beyond my expectation.

Then again, I didnt realize it until recently, because I've been stuck in Hong Kong for too long. Guys gel their hair so hard so that they can skyrocket in the air..erh...for maybe a inch or two. Well, face it. I love the city but dah....they are either too short or too mean.

So screw it any ways. Now I established my first rule about whatever you call it, I have to be comfortable around this someone in my favorite heels. Not maybe the killing pairs, but at least for the sweet mild ones.

Eyes fixed on a couple of fall sandals, ankle boots and UGG maybe.

Dan, now I start hate myself. But once upon a heel, I can just live alone happily ever after.

Too Fat For Fashion

Maybe it's the panic for the deadlines, the excitement from multi-tasking, or for the sake of alcohol or caffine I've been trying to drag out of my life...

I think I have an eating problem. Not a big one, well, not the biggest. I've always have this eating disorder kinda issue when it comes to emotion crashing down. I mean, who doesnt?

That's one thing I don't like about Hong Kong, it's just too narrow for big Ar*es! Really, the only thing people, well especially women, that including me, think about is to tucking their,well in that case ,my bellies into that tiny waisted skinny jeans. Thank god we dont think about the liquidation of any companies, banks, whatsoever, not untill it's called LMVS co. kinda stuff...

So, it all crashed when my friends routine joke, it's perfectly normal, you know, teasing you a bit, nobody cares. But I just cant take it......and I ran away. WTF is wrong with me......
